Any idea what the ballpark cost should be for Dealer installation of driver and passenger Team Tech 6-point belts and related hardware? It requires no drilling, just lifting of carpet to find 2 bolt-in screws on the floor, anchoring the belts behind the seat in the factory areas and routing of the belts. I provided directions from Team Tech to the Dealer. (You might answer in hours if that is helpful).

I just picked my car up and only one harness was done not done correctly and it needs to go back.

Thanks for your input!

Hey Stealth

DC performance installed mine, they did a great job, do not remember what they charged because they did a lot of work that time getting my car upgraded for Viper Days. Since you are in SoCal, I would say go see them, they are top notch in quality of service, attention to details, product (Viper) specific knowledge and they can even handle your warranty work. Personally, I would never let anybody else touch my car, as there are way too many horror stories on this site about unqualified dealer personel totaling Viper after Viper. I also think that their pricing structure is very fair for their unmatched level of competence. Talk to Dan Cragin @ DC Perfromance and tell him Phil from the SoCal VCA sent you.

Hope to meet you soon at one of our local SoCal Viper Club event, here is the next one:

Agreed--BUT too late on this one.

For heavy lifting I will go to DC,but this requires a trip to LA during the week, leaving the car there, driving home, and then back again. This is simply not practical for most things.

The Dealer and Tech are great BUT clearly knew nothing about the harnesses and spent an ungodly amount of time and MY $$$$ to do the install and they still have one to go. We resolved the matter to a point I can live with and still go to the Dealer for service, but it was a crazy amount (even at the negotiated price) and a delay of at least a day. I was just curious what others have paid.

Stealth, I did a 6 point by myself, but, I'd estimate a dealer would charge, at least 1 hour and maybe 2 hours per side. While people will tell you it can be done with the seat in, it's much easier with the seat out. Pull the seat, locate the bolt on the tunnel, (cut carpet), find the bolt on the door side (hard to find if you've never done one), cut carpet and remove the insulation. The harnesses should take 10 minutes, pretty simple. Real time might take 2 hours for the first side, then repeating for the second should take an hour. the hardest part is finding the bolt by the side sill side and cleaning up the insulation and mounting glue type stuff, plus you really need to take out the seats.

Where are you in SCA? Lot's of folks here track and can provide help. Viper X the SCA VCA pres, me and another guy were together at Willow springs yesterday, their still there today. We all have the team tech's in gen 3's and would have been glad to help you. Hopefully you put in the belts to go to viper days in September? Mike

Red/Tan:

Thanks for the info--exactly what I expected. I live by the beach in Huntington and work in Newport.

When I went to the Dealer to pick up my car the only things the dealer did were to swap out my stereo head unit for the OEM RB1, add iPod adaptor, put polks in the doors (drop ins), and install the 2 TeamTech 6-points. I provided all parts and detailed written instructions from experts. Only 1 harness is in and it is wrong (easy to fix). The estimate for the stereo was $183 (so add a little), but the actual bill: $1,741!!!!!!!!!!!!! We negotiated to $1,100 but that is stil at least $300-400 too high, but I wanted to keep the peace. I also tipped the Service writer and the Tech. It is Ancient history now, but it was not a good experience.

The car will go back next week for the second harness at no extra charge, installation of StopTech SS lines and Castrol SRF fluid and its first oil change.

The the Corsas and high-flow cats will hopefully go on next week, and then I will be ready for some HPDE fun. Eventually, I will add an intermediate street/track alignment.
