Why are AN fittings so dang expensive?? I just got my order in today for AN fittings and it came out to about $400 bucks from summit which also included the steel braided hoses.

I am going to have to take a break here from my car before the car breaks me!

But seriously...is there alot of mark up in these things? I can't see making these fittings any different than buying home depot nuts and bolts...but they are the fraction of the price...yes I am ********....I think this is worse than the viper tax!

There is no more markup in AN fittings & hose than any other category of car parts. $400 for your system is pretty reasonable. The trick is to have a manufacturers catalog in hand when ordering, only after drawing out your entire system while checking the car at every turn to see what exact fitting is optimal for that spot.

Don't just use the Summit catalog for your available options, there are a lot more options made that are not printed in Summit's catalog. ( sometimes saving you $ ) Don't rely on Summit's phone schmucks to plumb your system for you, the person you talk to there probably knows less about it than you do.

PS. If you don't have any experience assembling AN fittings & hose, you probably will want to get some help doing it until you get the hang of it or you will be buying even more fittings...

What I did was a diagram of what I needed. I called summit and got a person online to talk with. I explained what I wanted and he gave me part numbers and pricing. The entire order came out to $520.00

The summit rep took my credit card and ran it. I thumbed through the catalog and found that I could get AN fittings a lot less and the guy who took my order gave me the most expensive brand. I called in and cancelled the order, but had the part numbers and I basically went on the internet site and got my cost to drop down. Knowing the part names helps out the best, but drawing in detail and doing it in order is the best way of doing it. Caused me to have a headache from thinking too much, but all in all I should have a pretty good fuel system.

I did document the part numbers and the cost if anyone wants me to fax them them the specs.

ab: If I lived closer to KY, I would help ya plumb the car, I love to plumb w/ AN.

There is a quality difference between brands. I hope you didn't go down to an el-cheapo. After breaking some fittings with mismatched series of hose, and crappy hose braiding you won't be happy.

AB:

If you haven't made up AN lines previously, to get a nice square clean 90 degree cut, a dremel with a cutoff wheel does wonders. If you have a specific purpose cutoff tool it is even better.

You know what, I didn't even think about my dremmel to cut the hose...great idea and I know it will be a clean cut than all frayed up hose ends with my fingers being a pin cushion!

I went with Earl's and Russel fitings along with some Aeroequip. I did get some summit AN parts.

I spent $700 in parts for my previous cars fuel system. Twin Walboro's, Two huge filters, two -6 feeds, FPR, and tons of misc AN fittings and line. Make sure you tape the line with electrical tape before you cut. I found it was best to make the first cut with bolt cutters, then use the dremel to clean it up.

AB keep in mind that Earl, Russel and Aeroquip have a different shades of red and blue.

I didn't know that..thanks..it won't really matter due to the fact that most of the fittings are going to be hidden anyways...so they could be pink and still no one would see them.
