Interior panel removal for Dean\'s Camera Mount

Okay guys,

I bought a used Dean's Camera Mount for my 2001 GTS and reviewed the installation page on this site (on the "how to" link). It all seemed pretty straight forward . . . except the passenger side trim panel starting under the hatch. I removed all of the phillips head screws, but at the very back it seems to be attached with a plastic press in screw/clip (if that makes any sense). How do I get this loose without destroying it? I want to get my new camera mount in before Dec. 3rd (Going to Willow Springs) but I don't want to damage the stock plastic panel or the clip. Has anyone done this before??? Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated! Please Help, I am Desperate :(

Thanks!

Bill

They'll come out if you work them slowly. It helps if you have one of them push pin removal tools. I wouldn't worry about damaging the push pin threads since you can get these relatively cheap at any Pep Boys or Auto Zone.

Okay, thank you for your quick reply Ulysses. I got the "push pin" out, but the panel still seems to be stuck back in this area . . . I don't want to force it and break anything. Any other suggestions or hidden screws I may not be finding (I have searched all under the panel) There is a large bolt right there by the back corner of the hatch, outside the weather stripping . . . might this have anything to do with the problem?

Thanks in advance!

Still hoping someone out there may have removed this interior panel at some point and be able to offer insight to this problem I am having :-( I removed the push pin, but the panel definitely seems affixed in some manner . . . the rest of the panel moves and comes loose, but that back edge is still holding strong.

Thanks in advance!

I purchased a couple of the camera mounts that stick to the window and they ROCK! Takes all of 15 seconds to set up and secure. Plus you can put it ANYWHERE. I stick it on the side widdow or windshield of the rear hatch glass for a whole interior shot, etc. I'll post some video soon shot from the two type of camera mount I purchased.

It's a B*%*&, keep working it side to side. I remember having a tough time with the passenger side. It will flex some. It will come out, stick with it. When you get real frustrated take a break then go back at it. You'll get it.
You will need to bend the camera mount using a adjustable wrench once you have it mounted and before replacing the panels.
Good Luck,
Dan

My mount won't stick to the rear glass because of the wires for the defroster. How did you solve that problem??? I would like to do a whole interior shot! :headbang:

I give up . . the d@#% panel started to tear so I put it all back together. Now I remember why I drive cars instead of working on them . . . things never go well when I pick up tools.
