Just curious...do you think 20\" tires for the viper is just a novelty?

I am going to upgrade my wheels soon...and want to make sure the size I get will be avilble in tires let's say 5-10 years down the road...I like the way 20" wheels look on a lowered viper....but wasn't sure of the availbilty down the road...hate to be stuck with 20" wheels with no tires.

I dont think they'll be a problem. With tires seemingly getting bigger and bigger these days, it seems a safe bet we'll still have 20's deep into the future. Since they now come stock on some vehicles (RAM SRT-10 for example) I cant see any size of 20's coming off the market anytime soon.

Check out the weight of the wheels before buying them. No sense downgrading to heavier wheels. It might be a lot more rotational mass.

AB, something else to think about: You wont be able to open your hood with 20" wheels without turning them to the right or left to get enough clearance! PITA!!

I had 20's on my 99 for about 6 months. HEAVY, HEAVY, HEAVY.....

Killer looks, bar none! Mine had about 3" of chrome lip, just awesome!

Worst thing was, only Perrelli (SP?) made a tire for it at that time, and they were HARD AS BRICKS! Those P tires sucked.

But as said above, I too would suspect that more manufactures will make even more choices in the future for 20's.

"R" compound or nothing - especially on your blown car. Even 19' are a no-go right now due to lack of sticky rubber.

Ab,

Rotational mass affects braking efficiency, if you go beyond 18" I'd also consider a set of $BIG brakes$ if you don't already have them.

hmm...good thought on the brakes...most of my driving is going to be straight line because my going around curves is not my cup of tea...
