does that test really tell us if the filter and intake tube sys on the SRT makes more hp,(no). i think there are before and after tests as a stand alone mod that show there is at least a 12+ hp(at least)

Very interesting indeed, and thanks for the link! It appears that the K&N "cleans" worst than most, but flows far better. So the compromise is that you are letting some bad stuff in while potentially increasing the airflow. I always found it an endorsement that the factory installed K&N filters for the ACR's (not just smooth tubes from what I recall)...

I put K&N's on my old '95 RT/10 between runs while it was still strapped on the dyno - immediate 11 hp gain across the curve. Sure, its only 3%, but it's usually the cheapest hp/$$ gain you can get. You are most likely letting more dust in, but, after 70k miles, the RT was still tight and pulling strong, and compression was fine. So, perhaps it depends on how long you expect to keep the car if the filtration ability is a worry.

Now that's the kind of stuff I like.

K&N seems to flow well, but passes more dirt, and builds up more dirt into the filter. Flow then is disrupted badly. No blowing out the K&N occasionally as you would pleated paper.

I say keep the K&N clean, change oil a bit more onften, as this where much of the dirt ends up, only to do much damage on the engine.

Very good test.

I can't speak for anyone else but myself here, but on my dyno I lost 10rwhp going back to the stock setup. It made 0 difference down low but above 3000-6000 it continued to make more power on my car as the RPM's increased.
