I meant to post this after the autoshow, but somehow it slipped my mind until I read a post by Andy98T in the SRT forum regarding Diablos vs. srt coupe...

Anyways, no dis-respect to anyone in the community, I am a ******** Viper person (I believe that few cars in the world compare to my GTS)... but until DCX comes to the party with the new coupe... this is what I am driving

When DCX does what is needed on the new coupe the lambo is going up for sale and I am buying a new coupe.

Isnt it heart breaking what the new Z06 is going to do to the new coupe? Who knows, maybe I was just spoiled by what the GTS was in it's time.

i can understand where you are coming from. if a car doesn't look good or right to me i won't buy it know matter how much performance it has. but by the same token if a car looks good and won't go more than 100 miles at a time without breaking down i won't buy it either. so good luck with that lambo

Holy sh*t! You weren't joking when you said you wanted a Diablo. Is that a VT (all wheel drive?). I know you were considering a kit car, but I guess you decided on the real thing. So tell us, how does it compare to the GTS as far as performance? I bet your buddies are freaking over that thing....

FastFreddy- I hear ya, if something breaks its going to be expensive, I have already found how expensive the lambo is with just some small replacement items (say 25-40% over viper items). But the business about them breaking down all the time, I dont have any reason to believe that... I know a couple guys that drive thier lambos pretty easy and they have put thousands and thousands of miles on them without a problem. Going beyond that, there are guys like allanlambo that drive thier cars like they should be, still no nightmares like most people think.

Onerareviper, yeah I was considering a kit because of one that I saw that looked pretty nice, but after digging into the whole thing I realized it was going to be more trouble than it was worth (not to mention that it was a fake anyways).

Yup, its a VT model which is all-wheel drive. Modifications include a Thermal Research & development full exhaust, k&n filters, updated alphine sound system, and lowenhart wheels.. so its little step up from stock. Although its a few years old, the car is in pretty good shape, I have went through the car just as something to do in these winter months and only found a few things that required attention.

As far as compared to the Viper, well... its just different. As far as just the feel of the ride, the suspension is stiffer, you are riding much closer to the front of the vehicle with the engine noise behind you (a very weird feeling), you have better frontal view, but almost no rear vision. Laying into the gas the powerband seems smoother than the viper (the HP peak is perhaps less pointed, not sure, its weird).. getting on it hard you want to anticipate the rear end coming around, but it doesnt, the car just takes off as if it is asking for more.

Its a lot of fun to ride in, almost (but not quite) like the first time I drove my GTS. If you are ever in the Detroit area let me know, we'll take the two cars out for a drive. Getting back into a GTS after a ride in a Diablo isnt a step down by any means (like going from a Viper to a Vette), its just different.

Yeah, my buddies were pretty excited about it (it wont hit me until I have it out on a nice day...I am still in shock that I spent so much on a car, but if things get tight I think I can recover most of my money however). The trip to Chicago to pick up the car was last minute so I had to call around to a few different friends before I could find someone to make the trip with me, so word spread fast about the purchase.. when I arrived home at 2am with the car on the trailer I had a 20 person welcoming party at my house; it was fun.
