Just a heads up. The 'Sport' or 'Econo' model is a LOT heavier. I'm not sure if you'd notice but check the weight if it's important to you.

Also - Depending when you bought your first one, they make even larger sizes now.

I had the opprotunity to look at some of the newer technology at a recent NASA track day at Mid-Ohio. One of the vendors was "demonstrating" the latest head restraint stuff.

The "HANS" device iteslf appears to be a bit dated in terms of protectio, especially relative to side impact.

I will try to find an example of the newer technology stuff and post.

I bought a 20R that was to small for ChucK. It was fine in terms of weight and such.

Hey Carl,

So, when are you going to take your new ride to the track?

We've got a bunch of track stuff planned for the fall.

Might be????

Always enjoyed going to the track with you Carl. Really wanted to chase you around the track with my GTS before you sold yours as I was improving every time. Sorry we couldn't do that. Either way we would have had fun.

Check the So Cal website for more info. I'll be running the Roval at Fontana in September (19 & 20) with Speed Ventures.

I'll be running Willow Springs twice in October with Speed Ventures (Oct 10 & 11) early, then Pantera Club later (Oct 31 / Nov 1).

Back to the Roval in Fontana again with Speed Ventures Nov 21 & 22.

Hope you can come back and play again soon.

It was "might be" - and we'll see about that - hopefully soon! LOL.

You'd like Speed Ventures, very easy group to run with, lot's of other cars to pass.

Saxton's event is always crowded but again, lots of cars to practice passing on. Red group is open passing, where I've been running the last couple of times.

You'd also like the Roval, can get big speed in the front straight.

Check out this short video taken at the Roval from May 09: http://www.socalviper.com/images/Videos/Dan%20%40%20AAA%20Speedway.wmv

I saw someone with the R3 system at the track, I liked it. It doesn't require a 5 point harness, and moves with you. Great for if you use a regular seatbelt or if you switch cars/instruct/ride along with others.

The newer R3 (Hybrid X maybe?) has the sliding tether for easy side to side movement, right? I was thinking about picking one up. As a side question, how long is an SA2000 helmet good for?

Most groups I know let you use a helmet one rating older than the most current. So right now the most current is SA2005, (they are updated every 5 years I believe) once the SA2010 comes out the SA2000 would need to be retired.
