I have them on OEM '94 rims (no pics, though.) They don't have the protective bead on the sidewall so sometimes seem like they aren't as wide as they should be. Looks good on the rims above, though.

Just as he said. they dont look great on the rims, don't look wide enough without that protective bead.

It's not just the protective bead. Different manufacturers with the same size tire often have measurable diffences in tire width. It makes no sense but I've seen it many times.

As much as I wanted a sticky tire for the street, that tire is so far off the stock wheel rim (in the link's pic) that it looks like a spare. Thank god I didn't buy me those Kumhos. My car looks too good for those shoes----sticky grip or not. Thanks a million for the pic Phoenix. (They look o.k. with Frog's aftermarket wheels though)

Re: I'm having trouble popping pics in w/new format

It doesn't look that bad in person. I ran them for about 10k miles...and with the polished wheel bead sticking out...i kinda liked it.

If you steel need some more pics I could make some for ya. If all goes well I should hook up with a couple Vipers this friday, one of which also has kumhos on stock rims.

The closeup view exaggerates the the rim exposure, viewed from a normal perspective I don't think it looks all that objectionable.

You know I looked at the link's pic again and I don't recognize that wheel actually. Is that wheel oem or not. And the last pic on the 17" polished wheel does look ok from that angle.

InjectTheVenom, I'd appreciate the offer of more pics on some stock wheels. Hopefully they're the stock 18" wheels that I have. Thx, bud.

I've got Kumho's on my 17" CCWs and they have the same effect on the lip of the rim. It is noticable, but not too bad. You have to look close to really see it. Kumhos are darn sticky, so I think it's worth it. I've got my stock rims with Pilots if I ever want to have a 'perfect' look.

that just don't look good
That strange look is 100% worth it the first time you launch on the Kumhos. Those are stock 1999+ Gen II 18" wheels in the picture. I never liked polished/chrome wheels on silver cars so I grabbed a used set of wheels with failing clear coat and had them painted silver to match the car. Oh and now that I've figured out pic posting:

Thanks Pheonix for clearing that up (I'd actually like to see a pic of the car with the colour matched 18" 's). Camfab must be right about the Kumho tire width being "smaller" than usual for tires of the same measurement. Even the original PS's are suggested for up to 12.5" rim width, and it can't just be the rim protector that makes up for the unusual gap/look.
If there was only a 345 that was "streetable" at least as much as the PS or PS2's, or better yet like the sticky Kumho----that tire would probably be ideal...a nice meaty look for the wheel. I mean, I know the PS Cups are for wheels up to 13.5" but don't perform without "track" heat, unlike the Kumho's from what I've heard.
Man I want everything.

The Kumho's like some heat, but on a Viper it is easy to get heat into them! :) I would think the Cups would be sweet street tires - if you could find them. If you have a "fun driving only" Viper then talk to folks that have run Toyo R1s on other cars now that Toyo have an 18" Viper fitment. No matter which direction you go, sticky tires absolutely transform a Gen II Viper. Honestly, as an attorney for 12 years and having 8k miles of seat time in a Gen II - some of which was on regular Pilots - I really think it is improper to sell Vipers: 1) without sticky rubber - at least like the Advans on a Mitsu EVO; and 2) without requiring the buyer to attend some sort of driving school (even a 4-hour class that says if you floor it when taking a turn you could die). Short gears and sticky tires = happiness. Here are the silver wheels on my silver car (with love or hate graphics and deleted fogs):

That is sweet---nicely done (wheel graphics too). Original and tasteful.

Decisions, decisions,...sticky and big for (dry) streets only. Just which tire!?
