When trying to shut my hood last night, it wouldn't lock in the front latches. The RH latch was hung up, so when I shut the hood, it wasn't able to get into the receiver. All the springs seemed to have good tension. All I ended up having to do was pull on the hood release handle (in the cross hairs) and the latch "reset" itself and everything was fine. My question is, should I hit the latches with WD40/white lithium grease so it doesn't hang up again?
I know not to lube the hinge assembly that keeps the hood up but don't see why lubing the latches (located at the very front of the car) would be a problem. Feel free to correct me. If I should, whats better? WD/40, white lithium grease or something else?
