Man my car runs great on cold days!

Yesterday morning it was about 40 degrees outside when I took the viper for a ride. I forgot how great the car runs in the cold. It feels like it gained an extra 100hp!

My cra runs completely different on sub 50 degree days also. I think it's a combination of factors including the most obvious, dry oxygen dense air makes great HP, also the road surface is cold, and often the tires are also cold which add to the illusion of more power by providing poor traction. I'm sure it's not there, but like GO FAST, it feels like 100 HP to me also.

I notice it more on turbocharged cars.

No question the Viper loves cool air.

I've been flying and if its dry, high pressure, and a really low temperature, it's like taking an elevator when you take off.

These recent 40-50deg days I really thought I'd noticed a drop in power to tell the truth. Mostly above 3000rpm or so as I'm revving up through the gears for fun. It revs smoothly, but the ratio of perceived power to amount of throttle application seems to be down compared to when temps were a little warmer. I don't have any serious bolt on mods yet to markedly change the a/f ratio, but I've done some logically effective things to the intake tract. I'd just assumed that the settings have been leaned some due to the additional airflow (?) and it's getting too lean nowadays due to the colder/denser air. I was thinking I really need to get some kind of VEC to be able to get in there and make some adjustments. I was so disappointed I was going to put the car away for the winter ahead of schedule. I follow this thread's logic, but my SOTP dyno says my power's suffering in the colder air.
