The Motor City Viper Owners Chapter of VCA descended on Chrysler's Chelsea Proving Grounds today to hold our annual autocross event.
Security is tight and everything is watched closely, but the grounds provide an excellent location for a large autocross track.
We had a great turnout, from Paxton charged SRT-10's, to twin-turbo Gen II's, to Vipers of all ages and levels of sophistication.
We have our own club timing equipment and other support for running the event (looks fancy, doesn't it).
Yours truly helped flag the starts (when I wasn't fighting this one gust of wind that blew my shade umbrella inside out).
Everyone got two heats with a total of ten runs in the afternoon sun.
Haven't seen many Vipers this color have you (Allison was kicking butt on the course with her special ride).
When it was all said and done, Jon Swango walked away with the fastest time(s) with his sweetly modified Gen I RT-10. Smooth driving and just the right mods blew away all the big dogs. Sorry Jon, I don't have a picture of you or your ride, but we'll try to get one up later in the week.
What was even more impressive was that after all the official runs were over, Jon made two more runs with a passenger (me) and beat his official time on both of them.
(I claim it was my navigation skills!)
