I just wanted to let everyone know that the new MGW shift knob is a huge upgrade from there earlier models... it is larger and much, much shorter, it comes with the snakehead only. the new ashtray has the 6 speed pattern. I am so impressed with it i just thought everyone should know!!!! it really looks great on my 2001 yellow R/T 10 in satin.

jimandela,

I just e-mailed MGW about the Gripper vs the First Strike. Which did you get? Did you have much difficulty installing it?

Rich,

I have the Gripper - very easy install and well worth the price!
The ashtray is a great addition and I also have the A/C Heater Controls. I would highly reccamend them!
Good luck,

Steve

My very first mod to my Viper was the Gripper shift knob. Yep, I bought it five months before my car was even BUILT! It felt great and I was very pleased with the shorter throw vs. the tall factory knob. When George introduced the First Strike shifter with the polymer grip, I gave in and bought one. WOW! It was even better than the Gripper, especially if you like to quick shift in venues like drag racing. I use mine with three fingers below and the index finger around the top of the shifter, like a pistol grip. The shifts are much smoother and I am more comfortable going through gears without fear of a missed shift. While I like the First Strike knob better, you can't go wrong either way!

I too purchased alot of mgw accessories before the car even
arrived!! FEB 2001. The old knob(Feb2001)is the ripper but the rubber spun around. So i called and talked to George who told me about the new knob (JUNE2001) and it is really awesome!!! it could not be any shorter!!! it now uses a set screw so you can even take the jam nut off if you want to get it really low!!! and being slightly larger makes it feel just right!!!!
Y2KGTS go with the new knob you will love it!!!!

The ash tray idea itself, and the magnetic / pass-thru design is GENIUS !

Got mine today.........

Hoever...that magnet must add .00000003720 inch-feet (gauss-feet?) of magnetic drag to the driveline.....be sure to remove it before racing !
