Routine maintenance costs for a new Viper are low, in my opinion. Dealer oil changes are about $100-120 IF you let them supply the Mobil 1 Syn and their filter...take your own oil and M1-204 filter, and costs go to about $20-30 ....OR change your own oil for about $30-$45 in supplies (10 qts oil on sale and one filter). There are some other routine costs but they vary with how and how much you drive the car....3000 miles a year is very different that 15000+. The higher costs come with 2yr, 3yr, 4yr etc. schedule. Racing in any fashion certainly ups the costs considerably...the price of fun!!! I believe David Jenkins posted the cost at a dealer for ALL fluids being changed as being about $700 ...but this is NOT a frequent situation with a low milage/non track-driven Viper. If you work on your own car, I think you will find a Viper pretty straight forward...and fun to maintain.

The BIG worry is breakage...YES (!!!!!) get a Viper that QUALIFIES for an extended warranty if at all possible...the bills can be LARGE if out of pocket...go for 7 years...and remember, by my understanding, these warranties transfer to owner #2, but maybe NOT to #3 and CERTAINLY NOT to #4...check all of this out BEFORE you buy!!!

Others can offer more pro/con insights. Good luck!!
