Agree totally with above...call Bill Pemberton....and if I were buying a preowned Viper, I would still call Bill FIRST!

I would advise that most dealers who sell a few Vipers will come down 1k to 2k off list price. It is nice to buy local (at least I always try to) but the dealers mentioned give good deals. It never hurts to ask, and it always helps to pay cash on something like the Viper.
The 2001 RT-10 I just purchased is a great machine! I like it more than my 98' I just traded in. The ABS brakes are really nice, and I think, a big improvement.
Finally, concerning the price, I can tell you that I have never had a car hold it's value like the Viper did. The trade in was so reasonable, I was very surprised and proud. If you can buy new, I wouldn't be surprised that you would get 85% of your purchase price back in a year if you decided you did not want the Viper. Try to find another car that will return that! This is just my experience. You will enjoy whatever you end up buying.

I have also heard that Bill Pemberton is a good person to deal with on a viper purchase. To get you started you may want to have a look at the classifieds on the main site www.viperclub.org Also, if you decide to buy used, you should try to contact a VCA member in the area where the car is located to go and have a look for you....then seal the deal when you are satisfied. Good luck! The waiting *****, but the end result is well worth it for this fine vehicle!

I went through the same decision process about 6 months ago and decided to go with a used Viper from a private party. I looked into a lease on a 2000 but the local dealer wanted 30k down, 799 a month with about a 33k residual. I no doubt could have gotten a better offer from Woodhouse. I have always heard that most dealers would prefer that you did not pay cash but finance with them as they make a fair amount on the financing.
I also went for a used Viper as I love the blue and white color combination and was thus limited to two years. I got a 97 still under original 3/36 and just extended it to 7/50. There are a lot on very pampered vipers out there and if you have a warranty you can't go too wrong with a used one. Mine had never been driven in the rain(till I got it). While the resale value on Vipers is high, so is the lux/gas guzzler taxes. You will have to do a little more investigating of a used Viper but this is the better way to go financially.
Ultimately it really comes down to the decision of color (unless you want red!) and how important anti-lock brakes are.

I couldn't believe it either but it was 30k. I think this works about right with the low residual they were quoting (33k) at three years.

So you switched from a Gen II GTS to a Gen I R/T 10. How do you like the R/T 10? I had a hard time deciding between the two and still have occasional second thoughts. Love those side pipes!
