New engine for 100 bucks!!!

Ok, so not as cool as it sounds... Just took in my 2004 because it sounded like the belt was squeaking, and it turned into a whole mess of an issue. Something with the dampener (sp). The dealer didn't really now because when I questioned him he didn't have a good answer. They're keeping it over night and have to contact Chrylser or something?? He said worst case scenario they might have to replace the entire engine for a brand new one?? Good news... we have an extended warranty, and it's only going to cost 100 dollars.

Comments? Concerns? Since the engine might come out you guys and select girls KNOW my brain goes directly to any mods that should be done?:drive:

Loose crank damper is a well known, often talked about problem...ESPECIALLY with 2004's and the skinny, long, relatively low-torque bolt used that year.

You may "slide by" with a minor fix...but be careful that the dealer doesn't underestimate the possible crank damage...at your future expense.
