New England VCA AUTOCROSS II @ Fort Devens - Sunday September 10th
Hey Guys, If you haven't tried autocrossing in your Viper, this is one of the best and most fun things you can legally do in your car. This is a 1.5 mile course designed to challenge you and your car. Cones are set up in a pattern, and the objective is to drive around the cones at speed, stay on course, and do it as fast as possible. Instructors are available if your new to auto-cross and interested in someone helping you learn.
The course is set up by a Viper Owner. It is easy to follow and a blast to drive. Each time you drive the course you are electronically timed, this allows you to see how you are doing from one run to the next. You must sign up in advance because this event will sell out quickly. This is a joint event organized by the New England SHO Club. Members need to sign-up at the NESHOC web site [email protected], or contact ED Stebbins. Ed's home phone # is 603 891-6483.
After much thought and research I (Tim) have proposed a forum for this event...to make this course/event equal to all Viper Owners participating. Much like Golf, we can assign handicaps to all cars and there drivers to equal the field. The proposed handicaps are as follows:
* Plus 6 seconds for Track Tires
* Plus 3 seconds for suspension-shock mods
* Plus 1 second for alignment mods
* Plus 1 second for brake mods
* Plus 1 second for Superchargers and turbochargers
* Plus 1 second for driveline mods
Handicap for Cars:
Minus 1 second for a Gen 1 Car
Plus 2 seconds for a Gen 3 Car
Handicap For Drivers:
Minus 2 seconds for Beginners (less than 3 events)
The first Autocross Event was a big hit. Ft Devens is wide open, members had a blast. So make plans soon and we will see you then.
