A little about myself for those who care...

I am doing some research on this board because in a year in a half or so I am going to be getting a black with silver stripes 99 GTS Coupe then proceed to do heads/cam/exhaust/150 N20 on it. 4 of my friends have Vipers now and all have exhaust, one has 150 shot N20 and some head work. I fell in love with Vipers a long time ago but I was too young even to have a drivers liscense yet afford one. I have a Cobra Mustang with a crap load of power but it will not beat a modified Viper (yet!!). I love the looks, ride and feel that the Viper offers. I saw another post where a 19 year old was looking for a Viper because the chicks would dig him. Thats great and all but it's the car that I'm worried about. I'm 19 also and work two awesome paying jobs (see profile) and I attend the University of Evansville, IN on scholorship to play division 1 baseball in the Missouri Valley Conference. I am on the board to research before I buy like I said before, so let the learning begin.

Here is a video of my Cobra when all I had was a filter and catback exhaust (405hp 383tq SAE at the time.. see sig for new numbers) racing a bone stock 96 GTS Coupe.

My name 00SVTdubs came from my 00 SVT Contour before I purchaced my 03 Cobra so I just use that name on all the boards so everyone recognizes me.

I hope I enjoy my stay here and I will be counting down the days until I'm in the market for that black/silver GTS.

Snake Bitten, that was me. I came with that Silver GTS coupe, that Grey with white stripes GTS, the Yellow GTS on slicks and spray, the silver SRT10 vert, and the sonic blue 03 SVT Lightning. That was also me in my silver SVT Contour running 15's after they told me I needed a roll bar in the Cobra because it was a vert... lol

I like the comments on the mustang forum or whatever that was "Thats one of the reasons I modded my 03's Eaton and engine the way I did...so I will be able to beat most modded Vipers out there.
I look forward to that day......
Harry "

Wow he will be able to beat MOST MODDED vipers, lol. I guess Vipers are just too slow, even the modded ones will loose no matter what.

all the cobra has really proven to be is a 1/4 mile car...i haven't heard of anyone going above 155 with them or haven't seen any impressive road course laps in them

Harry's Cobra runs 10.80's all day long. It will beat most modded Vipers that we will ever see. Modded can mean only exhaust and filter. Around here, those mods will net high 11 second runs in a Viper.

Cobra's are 1-4 mile cars, they are not designed to go faster than 154 because my door sticker says 4550lbs loaded. Plus the high center of gravity makes it dangerous at that speeds. Although not a Viper or Z06, the Cobra's are not bad on the road course.

Let's not make this an argument about the Cobra vs Viper or anything. I just want to learn about the car, get the car and enjoy it. Let me enjoy my 494 tq in my cobra convertible for $38k with mods without telling me Im slow or I cant go faster than 155.

To each their own but I say buy a SNAKE and you can't lose!

Russ M, Snake Bitten can tell you that I beat a "modded Viper" at the track a few weeks ago. Im not nearly as fast as Harry. lol, I will admit, if the modded Viper (spraying I think) didn't spin, he would have smoked me...

I guess the phrase "you spin... I win" came into play that time.

not trying to start a war here because I am on your side, Im just stating my experience. Now if you say a modded Viper as in heads/cam/supercharged or nitrous, then you would not be proven wrong about the Viper smoking even Harry!!!

LMOA...Oh, now you've done it...I was spinning like crazy on my Pilots all damm day! We'll try that again at the Shaumberg Motorsports event in Aug or Sep...I'm bringing drag radials, so relish your 15 minutes!!! :)

Hope no one has that on video!!!

that was you??? That was the sweetest RT-10 I have ever seen! I'm not stupid bro, I know you spun really bad but how can't you with that much power. I did not mean to flame you or anything, I just said you spun??? I will be the first to admit when we went and I asked you if you were spraying and you said "just a small shot" I knew I was going to lose bad. I heard you spin then saw you gaining on me after the 1-8 (fast). I know your faster than me and most other cars on the road and at the track. Don't get all worked up over nothing, I just said that Harry has a 10 second Cobra and he can beat most modded Vipers. That's all.

Im looking forward to seeing you next time at the track. I hopefully will have a little more done then to push my 4010lb beast down the track. My buddies told me to buy a Viper to push my car down the track in order to get faster!!!

snake bitten, I do have that on video but Im not stupid enough to host it online and say I beat a spraying Viper because that was not even a fair race. What kind of DR's do you have for it? What times do you run with traction?
anyway, nice car, I look forward to meeting you.

Eric,

I didn't realize there were that many Vipers in Evansville. That is where my family lives and my brother graduated from U of E. I would love to ride in a nitrous Viper and see how it compares. Next time I come home maybe we could hook up and you could introduce me to one.

Eric,

SVT mustangs are nice cars, it is by far the best bang/buck out at the moment. And looks much nicer than any thing in its price range.

But the owners on the forum are what I was refering to. Go to the kill section and read how some guy in a bone stock 03 "SMOKES" an rt/10. And majority of people say nice kill, sounds like the civic forum from this end.

You are proud of your Stang, and thats fine. Glad to see young people like you that know how to work to get ahead.
This country will survive, if there are enough hard working sharp kids out there like you.

Good luck in your Viper search. There are a lot of good ones on the market right now, its a good time to strike a deal.

I'm 42, soon to be 43, and I employ many people younger than me, but unfortunately, they don't all have the same work ethic I do. In 2001, my union employees payroll reached $1,500,000.00, with 17 union field workers, but I didn't get much to show for all my effort. Some of the young people I had were lazy turds, who were there for a free ride. And some were older than me, too, but still equally useless. I guess laziness is accross the board.

These days, I have fewer employees, but get more done. The elevator construction and repair industry is always looking for sharp kids that want to learn a great trade.

Some stock 03's have 380hp at the wheels stock. Some Viper owners are old and don't know how to drive. SVTPerformance is the forum I chose because there was the least BS on there. Im sure if you looked on here you could find some bs too, its all around us. For the most part though, it is a great forum!

cruser, there has only been one Viper spotted in Evansville while I was at school. All the other Viper's I am talking about are back here in St. Charles, IL and around my area. Again, all my buddies so if you for some reason come up here, you can definately pick what you want to ride in. In fact my buddy just got back from Heffner??? in Maryland and he has a heads/cam/stroked and vortech blown 96 blue with white striped GTS. We went out last night and he did 193 in fifth while my stang was topped out at 160. His side exhaust made me deaf when he passed me. By far the best night ever!!!
