I recently got a 2006 convertible. I just had belanger headers & exhaust put on. I have a new tb on the way. Have not done any tuning yet. I am curious what it would take to get the 1/4 mile times below 11 seconds. I plan on doing gears(3.33 or 3.55), tuning, maybe a bolt on paxton. Could a decent driver pull it off with that? I know others switch out the flywheel and put on lighter wheels and Ps2's. For you guys who know...what's it going to take? What kind of rwhp is needed? Will my mods be enough? Am I crazy?

Thanks.

The car runs 11's stock ,on stock runflats.

If you cant drive, then even a S/C wont get you in the 11's. But with the mods you have you should definately be in the 11.8 range if you can get it to hook up which takes practice.

PJJP -- My '04 vert put down 684 rwhp with a Paxton, Corsa and a conservative tune. Haven't dyno'd my '06 blown coupe but it pulls crazy too. So there is no doubting that going with a Paxton alone will more than get the job done. Adding headers, gears, polished throttle body, etc well, that's just icing on the cake. Be friendly to fellow snakes though as there is plenty prey out there to put the real hurting on.:drive:

thanks for the input guys. I would love to get into the high 10's. I'm just hoping that with the mods & paxton, coupled with some decent driving, will do the trick.

On a side note, I absolutely love this car. I cannot wait to get in every day and drive. even more fun than the vettes I had in years past.

On the gears and paxton question, search the archives, lot's of discussions and comments. Many will say to stick with the 3.07's with a Paxton. I run w/3:55's in a couple of vipers and with bolt on mod's I love them, you will see a big difference but I'm not a drag racer. Many here are and can tell you the best route. Lots of great information in the archives. Best wishes with your new car!!!

Explaining Viper things to you
I have seen many discussions on the 3.55 gears. Great for launch, reducing parking lot bucking, etc.

The discussions have also gotten deep into 1/4 mile times. Yeah, you may launch better, but you don't get there any faster kind of stuff.

You might want to dig up some of those threads by using the search feature. They basically convinced me to knock gears off of my mod list of things to do.

Missed the "below" part... If you want quick and easy, then Paxton is wat to go and will bring you 10' in the 1/4 mile.
