Hello Guys,

This is my first post and I have been lurking on this forum for some time. I purchased a 1999 GTS black/silver stripes 5k miles mint cond. :2tu: in Dec 03. Just want to share my experiences with you as I have gotten a wealth of info from you guys.

1) Purchased 3" B&B cat back X-pipe design, high flow cats, smooth tubes and filters from Sean Roe. The B&B is flawless in construction and fit perfectly, no hammering/bending whatsoever. Installation took about 3 hours start to finish, my local mechanic did install. The sound is absolutely awesome, nice "burble" at idle and super at WOT plenty loud. Don't notice the "drone" people talk about, sounds great to me, but then again I like my sports cars loud.

2) Oil cooler disaster -- Driving on highway this Memorial Day weekend 11pm Sat evening at 100mph+ when engine sounds weird. Oil light pops on oil pressure=0
Immediately turn off engine coast off exit and voila - oil everywhere, blown all over the left side of car front to back, covering both front and rear tires and pouring out of front fascia. Lets forget about trying to get a flatbed on Memorial weekend at night in the middle of Queens NY and the fact that oil all over the tires could have easily killed me. Get the car to the shop and upon inspection a rock blew a hole right through the oil cooler lower left corner. I read the threads concerning this issue and it appears to be fairly common. The fix would be a screen/grill which I will do shortly. A word of advice --- most people with this problem remove the front fascia to get to the cooler which is a big pain in the A**. My mechanic and I removed the hood instead, 4 bolts 15 minutes later, hood off and easy access to oil cooler but you need 3 people IMHO to remove hood safely. All in all it’s a 2 hour job to replace oil cooler and much, much longer to clean up all that oil on the underside/outside/tires. No engine damage from the loss of oil :headbang: car is running perfect.

3) This car rocks. I have owned many cars in my day, from Vette's to Porche's to Ferrari, this GTS is by far my favorite.
