I'm guessing this is something really easy, but I'll ask anyway. I recently bought my '99 GTS a couple weeks ago. The door worked fine when I got it and up until a couple days ago. Now, I can't get out of the car using the standard electronic handle. I have to use the emergency release to get out. It works fine getting into the car from the outside. So, I know the servos work fine. This is only on the driver's side door. Is this possibly a fuse or something? Please help. Thanks!

Since the soleniod works from the outside, it must have power and since it operates properly it must be functional. That leaves the inside switch as the likely culprit.

Means opening up the door and testing at the switch connector. If the solenoid works, the switch is it....

Inside door switch. It and the outside switch are on the same circuit. If the outside works and not the inside, then it is the inside switch.
Road racers and drag racers often wear these out because they are in & out many times per day. But, each Viper is different!

Matthew,

While I thought that too at first, it can't be the hinge area wiring as the connection between the switch and soleniod doesn't transit that area and while the power does, power is OK given that the outside switch works.

Rgr that. I'll take the door panel off and check out the switch. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something really simple before I started taking things apart. Thanks!

Before you do that, there is a small switch near the inner door handle. It'll turn a small led orange when pressed in one direction, and turn it off when it is pressed in the other.

Try both variations to see if this helps.
