Newbie Heater/ACr blower problem

I was checking everything out this weekend, and think I found an problem.

When I checked the operation of the heater/AC blower, no matter which setting is selected, air only blows out the vents on top of the dash behind the windshield, but not out the vents on the front of the dash.

Something tells me this won't be fun to fix . . . any ideas? Something must be stuck?

Does it blow out of the floor vents? On a GenI the ones on the dash are just for outside air. There are small crotch vents that will blow AC though. I think GenI/GenII are the same for this.

If the air is only blowing out of the top vent, this means you have a vacume leak. check the passenger side connector going from the rear of the intake to the motor... this is where that leak usually happens.

the "default" position for the vents (when a vacume leak occurs) is "defrost". This is true on most cars (especially american ones).

i had this happen to me about 4 weeks ago... it was a vacume leak right there.

That's the exact same problem I had with my A/C last summer. There was a leak in the vacuum line an inch away from where it connected to the intake manifold.

Vacuum.... um, ah, ey, so the car needs to be running in order to produce vacuum Problem solved, that was an easy one, operator error
