I just got back and I'm also tired. Gonna make this quick:
Met Tom Welch, Jack B, and Mike (the C4 V6 Turbo Vette guy). All REALLY great guys! We had a great time, despite the "small" turnout (and the track soy burger...Tom's wife Robin knows what I'm talking about).
Tom met the C4 today in the finals and ran a 9.86 to the Vette's 9.96, on a .500 Pro Tree and took the win.
Since I was on Nitto drag radials without NOS, the track suggested that Tom and I line up NA vs NA for a final race. I had ran a weekend best of 11.32 @ 125.34 on a 1.61 60ft, but my clutch was starting to go away BAD. And I drove my car to the event and needed to drive it back home too. So on my final pass against Tom, it WOULD have been a great (probably Photo-Finish) race, but my clutch wouldn't allow me to shift to 3rd (at least not when I wanted to). So here's a copy of the final timeslip:
.........Tom.../...Rob
R/T - .085 / .033 - PRO TREE!! Not bad for old farts, huh?
60' - 1.694 / 1.690
330 - 4.826 / 4.845
1/8 - 7.374 / 7.653
mph - 97.27 / 85.89
1000 - 9.531 / 10.019
1/4 - 11.352 / 11.948
mph - 123.15 / 119.25
Even though I lost, I still had a great time. Tom was a great sportsman, offering to even-split the winnings. And he didn't brag near as much as he does on the 'net!
Anyway, I hope we can get a huge group together for the next NMCA Viper vs Vette Shootout. They were REALLY happy to have us there....and so was the crowd. We received the royal treatment all weekend.
Word is, it will air on Hot Rod TV in the first January '04 episode.
I've got some great videos, including Tom's 9.86 pass. I'll try to get them downloaded to my website within the next day or so. I'll post when I do.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
* I had to Edit the names above the timeslip....I had Tom on my time, and me on Tom's...I was still trying to win...
