Hi all, I was wondering why some signs of oil mixed with water is coming out of my exhaust? Not allot of oil but a trace and enough for me to notice. Is this normal or what could it be? I drove the car 1500 miles from where I bought it and it has sat in the garage until I turned it on today. Any ideas?

thanks

It's normal to have condensate come out when the car is cold. Depending on temp/humidity it could vary on the amount. I have seen quite a bit of water come out. The oil is probably residual...no big deal. Don't worry....don't leave it sitting....drive it !!

It looks just like when you have all the condensation come out. Its just mixed with oil. Actually, 95Viper is right. Looks like carbon because its really black looking.

I agree...Keep an eye on your oil level. Another sign is if after an hour or two of driving a clean car the rear quarter will be covered with soot. Before my rebuild I was using a quart of oil every 500 miles. Never saw blue smoke!

If you have aftermarket pipes on there, a little bit of oil is normal if the pipes have been installed recently. A little bit of soot on the rear cover is normal also, but not a lot. If your using synthetic and you have an oil problem, the smoke will be more whitish than blue and you'll most likely see the smoke when the car has warmed up versus only when cold. As suggested before, keep an eye on the oil level. What year car did you get?

I have a 97 GTS but I believe its carbon build up. I still have waranty so thats good. Any other items I should ask the dealership to look for that might eventually go bad?

Its condensation mixed with carbon in the pipes. Nothing to worry about...
