Oil Pressure?

I just traded my 04 Mamba for a 06 VCA Coupe and I noticed a difference in gauge oil pressure readings. My 04 read about 70 psi at 65 mph and my 06 reads about 50 psi at the same speed. My question is what oil pressure should the gauge read (should there be a difference between an 04 to an 06) and also how accurate are these readings? Both cars are running the same oil/filter in them.

Thanks for your feedback,
Steve

Normal.

03-04 cars have different main bearings than 05-06. The later 180 degree mains vs. earlier 120 degree offer better rod oiling, but at the cost of some oil pressure. No biggie, even the 25 PSI idle/50 PSI cruise is much more than is actually needed. Rule is roughly 7-8psi per 1000 RPM minimum.

Oil viscosity and temperature can affect oil pressure as can internal tolerances. I run the 0W40 Mobil 1 in my 06 Coupe and it's about 60 psi cruising and 25 psi at idle when warm. Cold is much higher.
