I recently purchased a Service Manual off Ebay for my '98 Viper for $30. The seller throws me a price of $15.00 to ship it!

It can't weigh much and I usually ship books across the country at the book rate shipping of less than $4-!

I told him $5.00. What do you think?

Opinions?

$15 is way too much, but that is common on Ebay for the seller to make more money on the shipping than the item they are selling. Under the shipping info on the item description page, did they not list the shipping charge?

It's usually best to get this resolved up front. If it is not posted on the listing I e-mail them before my final bid. When I've complained I get the argument that "shipping" includes the cost of the materials, the labor for wrapping it up, the gas to get to the post office, etc., etc. Usually you can jawbone them down. If they continue to be outrageous, then turn them in to eBay. They claim that they will police such abuses.
