Is this anything anyone tries to do themselves or would that be a big mistake ? I want to plan a winter project but want to do plenty of research beforehand to be sure I'm getting the job done I want.

Any suggestions appreciated,

Thanks,

AC

Explaining Viper things to you
There have been lots of people do this, using products from the stuff at Auto Zone, to Eastwood Co. mail order. I don't think it's quite the caliber of like powder coating them, but a fraction of the cost, and I've never heard any one say "This was a stupid idea. Should have powder coated them."

Like all finishes, surface prep is king.

This stuff works great. DupliColor Caliper Paint Kit It goes on with a brush and flows while drying to eliminate all evidence of brush marks. You can't tell it from powder coat when you're finished. The final finish is smooth, high gloss and durable. I have used it for a couple of years on several cars with zero issues.

do yourself a favor,, Have them powdercoated... I dont care how good the prep.. Any of that over the counter paint (dupli-color) will break right off, and/or will fade from wheel cleaner.. Then, you have to do it all over again..

put the car on stands, and take all 4 calipers to a powdercoater... The finish will last forever.

Since I had to use a brush, I just painted around the logo already on the calipers.

Although the paints might be a good option, I do plenty of track driving and switching wheels on and off, heat, braking.....all that. I have a feeling powder coating might be the way to go.
