I don't think the ac running is what controls the oil cooler bypass.
The Non-ACR oil filter adapter bypasses the oil cooler when the pressure drops below 30 - like at idle - due to a mechanical valve in it. Above idle the oil is going through the cooler. Not having to overcome the restriction of the mechanical valve yields greater volume and pressure at idle and above with the ACR adapter.
With the ACR adapter the oil always goes through the oil cooler. At a prolonged idle the extra heat from the oil cooler will impact the ac ability in a negative way.
Prolonged idle in real cold weather with the ACR adapter resluts in the oil always going through the cooler - cooling the oil too much. Non ACR adapter will bypass the cooler at idle - a good thing if it's real cold. Therefore the basis of the warnings of using the adapter in cold weather and the impact on the ac system.
Personally I don't think there is any issue for either of these in normal driving, but I can undestand that extended idle with the ACR adapter might stress some things.
This is the adapter that prevents the bypass of the oil cooler when the AC is running.
