Many thanks to the fine engineers at Dodge for producing the SRT10 Viper...
Last spring we purchased a 2004 Viper over Ebay and the guys in the shop began turning it into a SCCA T1 race car. we recieved much valuable help from the folks at Woodhouse Dodge, (the best Darn Dodge dealer on the Planet!!!)
We enetered the car in its first race at Pocono this Past weekend and 18 Year old Andrew Aquilante put it on the pole at over a second under the track recod and lead every lap while winning the race. The race race was made interesting by the Hard charge that John Heinricy ( Of C5 Corvette fame) made in a c5 Corvette trying to catch his teammate.
For the sunday race, It was John's turn to drive the Viper and John qualified the viper on the pole again, this time at almost 3 seconds under the track record. Andrew gave chase from the second spot, but could not keep up with Viper and within two laps, John was out of site... Winning by 35 seconds...
WOW!!!!
Some other teams have had difficulty getting their Vipers up to speed, but Phoenix Performance took what was available within the rules, weight penalty and restrictors and all, and has produced a Champion right out of the box!!!
Hats off to the Dodge engineers who have produced a fine car.
