Devil, I am coming to that conclusion about the eye. I think I will do that.

New97. A search will get you more info. Here is my recommendation. First plan this when you have a couple of days and some patience. Removing the endless number of tabs is a pain, and don't forget the two grounding straps. I only broke one tab so I did alright but the potential to break alot more is there. Supposedly there is a tool you can buy to help you remove the tabs. I went to 4 different auto supply stores and not one carried the tool.

Next, I used Rustoleum spray paint from Home Depot, you can get it anywhere. I would apply at least 2 coats of primer and flat black to the whole liner. Then let dry overnight. Tape off the areas to be painted/not painted and apply coats until satisfied. The taping/masking will take some time and care. I only had the one color so it was not to painful. With your blue/white you will have two to apply. Let that dry. Putting the liner back on is a five minute job.

You can also buy a painted liner for about $300. I don't recall who does it, but I believe you will find them on ebay. I have seen one Viper with the purchased version and it looked great. If you don't have the patience or time, buy it.

Thanks, Viperbite! That looks like a good weekend project...one that will be tedious but worth it in the end. Your Viper looks awesome!

I don't think he is talking about changing the black eye to red. He's talking about changing the glint of yellow in the eye to red. ;)

Slap this emblem on one side of the Viper (recommend behind drivers door) and you will be a superhero in the Pittsburgh area. The ultimate Steeler's fan mobile! :2tu:

here's the vendor that sells the pre-painted hood liners!

I vote to paint his eye RED, just the center:)

You did an awsome job btw!!!

I used testers paint markers to paint my corvette hood liner, I havn't checked out the viper liner but it looks like the same material, or pretty close to it. I did the same thing, did a spray of the primer/base coat, then use the markers to paint the logo, then a clearcoat.

I put the liner in my family room for a few days while I worked on it so I could take my time with painting the logo, and did the initial spraying outside

To each their own, but I'd rather own this bubble bee with black interior than that 1 of 1 yellow/connolly viper in one of the threads above. This car looks great, may not be as "rare" but to me is nicer.
