pistons and rods ???

now that im gonna be tearing the engine down. im not really looking for more power than this DLM paxton is gonna be giving me. ( 700rwhp or so ) and a possible tiny shot of nitrous later. not more than 801rwhp total with nitrous.

are the stock pistons & rods good for this power i hope ?

i wanna go thru the whole engine and replace anything bad but upgrade a few things if i NEED to. im not gonna be able to go crazy with money so keep that in mind. i wanna try to keep this affordable to me.

stock rods are more than adequate. stock pistons are fine, although a dished piston will allow a lower compression ratio which which will allow you to make more boost should you ever decide to do so.

if stock pistons are fine id like to keep them then. id rather spend a few extra bucks in the heads if i can. if possible to do affordably.....

The machine shop that did my work felt the rods were fine. I had Ross pistons made and they were much lighter. (2 stock piston skirts were cracked). The ross pistons have centered pins and you can hear a little "slap" but with file fit rings, she makes more power.
Inspect your pistons closely, and they should be okay.

Phil, I'm running Ross dished pistons w/ Speed Pro Hellfire rings (file fit), stock rods and wrist pins, along with BTR Stage II heads. Since you have already got the snowball rolling, it only makes sense (IMO) to upgrade a bit.

Although, it does get out of hand, as I spent around $5,800 for my DLM "kit" and have spent double that in "upgrading a bit".

Other than that, all I can add is have the rotating assembly balanced.
