Cold tires can be bad especially if they are newer tires or sat for a long time. When I first put on some new tires I thought I had made a huge mistake with them because the were like running on ice. Or is it possible that you got a little oil on the tires. If you did an oil change, on mine there is always some around the filter after a change, and that blew off onto the tires it would certainly give you an initial feel of being on ice with a bit difference smell. After that burn out the oil would be off and then when you burnt out again things would be back to normal. Just a thought?
Different patches of concrete or asphalt can be completely different too. Launching at 3000 rpm on slippery concrete could make you feel like your standing still.
