This might be answered by those unfortunate ones that have seen the inside of a broken headlight...

I have a 1993 headlight with better clear plastic than on my car, but the bottom of the housing (where the studs hang down) is damaged. I'm trying to combine the best parts of both but haven't separated the dark plastic housing from the clear plastic external lens. Everything else inside is removed.

There are 5 small plastic rivet heads along the bottom edge of the housing about an inch behind where the clear lens meets it. Along the top edge of the clear lens there are no rivets and it seems the clear plastic is just sitting in a groove. I think removing the rivets on the bottom would separate the clear lens from the housing. Or is the clear plastic somehow glued or bonded to the housing? Anybody know more?
