I know these "kills" are a dime a dozen, but I don't get to race much around here, so bear with me.

Got on at Hollywood Blvd heading downtown to Ambria with my girfriend Saturday night. My cool car radar immediately picks up a red Ferrari and a black Porsche a few cars ahead.

As the highway opens up, with moderate traffic, I get around and pass the Porsche who seems disinterested and only a Carrera 4S anyway. The 360 is way down the road already, but I catch up to him without any problem. He's not racing at this point, just moving at a nice clip.

As I come up closing on his bumper, traffic opens up and he guns it. I see his car jump ahead. I have it in 3rd and floor it, and am reeling him in in no time, closing in on his bumper. Each time I get close, he backs off the gas for traffic, but we run like this 3-4 times, and no question I pulled him in and he had to see me looming larger in his rearview every time. At one point we pulled alongside each other and gave "the nod". He was with his girlfriend, too. We exited shortly after. The only disappointment was never having the chance to run side-by-side, and , um, blowing a shift into 4th once.

My girlfriend yelled at me the whole rest of the way till we got to the restaurant, not seeing the point. Never mind, she forgave me after a nice dinner and bottle of wine. But it's still nice to reel in a car costing twice as much as yours. :2tu:

Modena Owner-
"I was just driving casually, and this Viper guy thought I was racing him"
Heh heh, I'm just kidding around a bit, I'm sure he knew exactly what he was doing!

Your girlfriend yells at you for racing? How familiar that sounds.....Only difference is I'm married to mine.....:)

Last week I was behind a Gallardo at the light, but I didn't dare try to keep up when it turned green, 'cuz I know the dear little woman would have started a huge family fight! He jumped off into the distance, as I meandered along far behind... Its ok, all guys understand this "woman riding shotgun" factor....

One time me and my gf were going somewhere and as we were about to turn onto another road, a C5 passed right in front of us. She mustve seen the look on my face b/c she was like "Oh God, you're gonna chase him arent you?" Yep. We both got on Interstate and played a little for 5 miles or so (never really raced. I guess he was smart enough to know he'd just be wasting gas). When we got off the next exit to head back, this guy in a truck 2 lanes over hung out his window yelling "I saw ya playing with that Vette, you shouldve ate him for lunch!" LOL

Good kill!

My wife must be a little different from most. I have yet to go as fast as she would like to.......and I've been to 163 a couple times to date. ...Many times between 120-150MPH. Always with her in the car. She watches for quarry as much as I do. Our car should go to the top of the tach in 5th, but age, fear, and a little more wisdom will probably prevent that from ever happening

I dusted a 600 CBR from a 3rd gear roll at 60 or so to 125+ MPH a few weeks ago and my wife was all for it.

Steve

......The CBR did instantly pull a few bike lengths on me at the start. ..shifted to 4th at 90 or so and reeled in all given bike lengths plus about a car and half by 125.

LOL...This is so true and funny. I had fun with a 360 a few times and the only thing I remember about it was the cool exhaust because it sounded like music to my ears even though I only herd it for a sec while I was passing him. :D I must say the guy was also very cool about it.

Funny you guys mentioned Gallardo's twice now. The very same day I saw a silver Gallardo in Lake Forest at my son's lacrosse championship game. Never knew who the owner was, but he wound up pulling out of the lot right in front of me. He turned off the other way though and we headed to the highway. Wouldn't have raced with my 14 year old in the car anyway.

Also odd, we could not hear the Ferrari exhaust at all. Even my can't-drive-an-automotic-either girlfriend mentioned how quiet it was.

Also I said "kill" in quotes as we never raced side to side. Still, I knew I had him :)

My best bud has a 360. He took one ride in my car and said "this car would KILL my car." We have another buddy with a 360 Stradale. I should talk him into lining up. A 430 on the other hand would be a handful.

That is pretty entertaining.

There is nothing better than cruising down LSD on a hot summer night. It would be an incredible road with some resurfacing.

Nice choice in Ambria, it used to be one of my favorites in the city. I believe I came across that same 360 yesterday on Sheridan near northwestern. Lets get that beer sometime at Millers.

Cool tale.

My wife would get pissed too and go on about how I'm going to get a ticket and blah blah blah. But afterwards she'd be all smiles and asking what mods we could do to make the Viper even faster next time. Women?
