From what i've heard the viper weighs around 3400-3450 for a GTS. Has anyone weighted their viper at the track on some real scales? I'd like to know the stock weight of the car with fluids.

Thanks, Brian

I weighed my 1996 GTS with full fuel, no driver and got 3440 lbs on a CAT Scale. Spoke with CAT to question the accuracy and was told they are +/-60 lbs. on 80,000 lbs and @ 3,000 it should be better than +/- 5 lbs.

Given the consistancy of other GTS weights and the fact that a gallon variance in fuel load = about 7lbs., perhaps they're right....

I weighted my 97 GTS at the strip (Sacramento Raceway) last weekend with 1/2 tank fuel. 3640 without driver. I don't know the accuracy of the scale but I assume they use it for competition.

My '96 GTS weighs just under 3400# with about 3/4 tank (indicated). Race weight with driver and full fuel is right at 3600#.

I have noted that the late-model 18" forged wheels must weigh about 10# more apiece than the 96-99 wheels. A mounted font tire stood on its tread will nearly fall over because of the moment arm of the wheel spider.

Ron - Truck scales typically indicate to the nearest 20# and are certified to within 0.1%.
