I have already replaced my rear speakers years ago but could never figure out to remove the rear speaker grill covers that are attached to the carpeting. They are attached with what looks like 3 round metal rivets going through a cardboard ring. I can turn them with needle nose pliers but they don't loosen. I'd like to get the covers off so I can repaint them black.

I believe they're pop-riveted in; only way will be to drill them out?
Oh man, I hope you're wrong. How the heck am I supposed to get them back on if I drill them out? I don't have a riveting gun...lol. Seriously, has anyone gotten these off and back on successfully? I can't spray paint em in the car...lol

You buy some aluminum pop rivets at your local hardware store and a cheap hand pop rivet gun.
