road trip with viper... where to stay/park overnight??

Hi, I just purchased a 94 RT-10 down in Fort Lauderdale... whoohoo !! I'm excited to drive it back up to Philadelphia and make a road trip out of it (stops in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Savannah, GA, Raleigh, NC, Georgetown/DC). Anyone who's also done longer trips with their snake have suggestions on where to stay and especially where to park overnight?? I'm a medical student who finally saved enough to buy his dream car, and I'm trying to make this as cost-effective as possible.

So long as you have full coverage w/ a $500 or lower deductible. Park it anywhere you want. The closer to your room the better.

In 1999 we drove across country from Raleigh to Vegas for VOI5. I had originally been very concerned about covered parking in my trip / hotel plannings. It was totally unnecessary.

In Amarillo, the first "open" lot, the manager called us when they got a car moved so we could park under the canopy and they could keep an eye on it. They also laundered my car washing towels, folded them and brought them up to me.

In Flagstaff, the car was parked around the corner without any fanfare.

Most folks like the Viper - they respect American muscle and usually feel prety good about it. We had a car cover, and only used it once - in the garage at the Embassy Suites in N Little Rock - as the garage was very dusty.


Enjoy your road trip - the Viper will produce a lot of smiles.

Haha, times like this I'm glad I'm young. "Hooking you up" means that they will "help you out" so to speak.

I also am planning my trip from Louisiana to Pennsylvania. I am leaving next week sometime. Maybe Thursday. When are you going to begin driving back from Florida? My directions put me on I-81 for about 550 miles. We should "hook up" and drive home together!

BTW, I'm picking up my 97GTS after flying down.

I take my viper to florida every year, i just choose the parking spot carefully and cant worry about it too much.

I flew out to nebraska and drove it home too.

Arlydude: haha, i should have been more clear; I know what "hoooking me up" means, i guess what i meant is, what does it entail?? I'm also young.... 28yo and still in shock over the purchase of my dream car!

unfortunately, i'm not making the drive back until mid-march, so unless you can wait that long..... but where in PA are you from?

Whenever I drive cross country in the Viper (three 3600 miles trips so far), I just put a cover on it overnight at the hotel, and lock the cover. Covered cars aren't that unusual in a hotel lot, and I've never had any problem.

I know the area all too well...have been flying into Philadelphia and driving up to Hazleton lately. I seem to be in town every time it snows! Beautiful part of the country...perfect for Viper outings.

From Texas took a road trip to Phoenix, Vegas, on to Southern Caifornia. After a lot of worry, the car cover was generally used, and had no problems. Later used car cover at Casinos (parked in front) and anywhere car was left alone (always high visiblity). Car draws a great deal of borderline reverence, enjoy.

I slept in the GTS once. I couldn't drive home from the saloon....It was not comfy. The lack of reclining seats and that huge center console made the evening ****.

Also, most hotels/motels nowadays have security cameras, try to park your ride where it is in view of the cameras. Car cover also a good idea, but of course, remove all valuables from inside.

Congrats on your purchase. Once youre an MD Im sure youll have quite the collection of cars, good choice to start at top though
