Those of you that have RT/10's, do you put your tops on when drag racing? I've got 5 point hanresses, roll bar, etc., and would much rather leave the top off than put it on. However, if the drag from leaving it off is substantial in a 1/4 mile race, I'll put the freaking thing on. Those of you who know the numbers, please let us all know.

Thanks,

Manny

From what I've read the R/T10 has a coefficient of drag of 0.50 with the top off, 0.46 with the soft top, and 0.43 with the hard top on. And 0.36 for the GTS.

Potentially the track could consider the R/T10 a convertible, and kick it off the track for running faster than 14.0 in the 1/4 mile without a rollbar.

I've always run with the hardtop on and only get reminded to slow down when I hit the 11s (sometimes).

The 0.07 cd difference of having the hardtop on or not may not sound like much, but it is the difference between the R/T10 and the GTS's top speed of 178MPH and 192MPH.

With the 5-point belts and rollbar, the track officials might allow you to run sub 12.0 times, but it will probably cost you slower times, and much slower trap speeds due to the added drag on the open car. :p
