Yes, Vipers are close to perfection, but we all know they do have some "issues" that can cause you to either be waiting on a tow truck or a fire truck if you arent careful. Let's get a list of things together that you can do to insure you dont end up on the side of Interstate. Here's what I have done/plan to do:

Power steering vent tube (done)
Big Brake Dave's billet aluminum power steering bracket and pulley (done)
Roe crankshaft pinning kit (next on the list)

Kind of a different idea, but also be sure to check the tire pressure in your SPARE. People often forget they even have them and when they need them, they're as flat as the tire that just ran over a nail.

Any others?

Tell me about the PS vent tube please

Just like ITV said, but I think more than "several" have met their demise due to the p/s cap coming loose and p/s fluid getting on the headers. Its prob the most important (and cheapest) safety mod out there

Roe Racing Power Steering Vent Tube - 92-02 - Safety - Roe Racing

You could prob make one for yourself for $5 at Home Depot if you wanted. The tube is secured on top of the OEM cap and is zip tied to p/s oil return line to keep the cap from being able to spin loose. If you dont have this kit, buy/make one today!

I like the idea of this thread, and thanks to Big Brake Dave's Thanksgiving special you can get the power steering bracket and pulley on sale, and oh by the way, if your one of the first 100 Venom members, even more of a deal. Cant go wrong, Mine is on the way. Thanks Dave.

With Dave's sale price and my Venom discount, I got the pulley and bracket with 2-3 day priority shipping for $186.95 :2tu: It came in the mail Thursday, it was installed yesterday

Just as another plus, On Thursday, I emailed Dave with a question about the pulley and bracket fitment for my 96' RT/10 and within an hour or so, Dave was calling my cell phone to make sure I had the right parts. These Viper vendors we have to chose from are top notch all the way! :2tu:

Explaining Viper things to you
Dave's Big Brakes also has an alternative to the Roe PS vent tube. More money, but take a look at the features of each before purchasing.

Power Steering

I bought both. I'll be using the Big Brakes unit. First person to PM me gets the Roe vent for FREE.

You are seriously overfilling your power steering reservoir if a puke tank is needed. You just need to stop the cap from turning, keep the fluid at the correct level, and do not block the venting by clamping rubber hose on there and kinking it by wiring it to something.

Preventative maintenance.

Replace or check often your Gen1 head gaskets
Remove OEM cats before your sills burn up
Remove and cut down screw below coolant reservoir in front bumper.

Very basic but vital......check your tires. I see so many accidents with Vipers and I bet alot of them were from incorrect tire pressure, old tires or driving too aggressively on tires that were not suitable at the time (environmental conditions).

For ACR's, don't over oil your air filters.....not good.
