Hey Viper fans,

I set up my 99 engine in a 2000 GTS in the last days. The stock one broke
Everything looks good and is physically connected.
My questions to you, to avoid any problems on the first start:
What do I have to check/do before first ignition? How about the fuel system? Does it have to be bleed?
I hope you can give me some advices.

Make sure you have oil and the fuel system doesn't need to be bled but just prime it a few times before you try and start.

pull the wires on the coil pack and crank it a few times to get the oil up and thru it a bit. start it,let it idle while ya check for leaks

Make 100% sure the two ground wires are connected. If you don't the oil cooler lines become a ground....Don't ask how I know.

I also would prime the fuel system upto the intake mani.

I pulled my valve covers off soaked a rag in oil, then coated everything. If it was a new build I'm sure you used pre-lube. However, if it's a motor swap most people forget that.

I remember when I put in my new motor...it fired up like it had been in for 10k miles. It was crazy!

Thanks for your help.
I installed a new oilcooler with new russell lines etc. How can I bleed it? Is it enough to crank it until oil pressure is established?
The engine has 16k miles on it, I will feed the rockers, valves a little with oil, that should be enough for that part.

What do you mean by 'I also would prime the fuel system upto the intake mani.'?

Different strokes for different folks:

1. Pull the valve covers and turn the engine over with a hand-held starter switch that connects to the starter terminal, crank it till you see oil flowing out of the rockers.

2. The fuel system should pressurize when you turn the key on, just check for leaks, the fitting on the back of the intake is one place to look.

Thank you guys.
I have a 2000 car with 2000 PCM. Are there any problems with the 99 engine or can I just leave it as it is... regarding the electronics part?
