Shifter: stock, Hurst, B&M or something else?

My stock shift linkage seems to be binding up as the effort to shift is getting more and more. Anyway, I was wondering if it's worth it to change to another shifter when I'm having the linkage looked at or should I just leave it stock? Something with shorter throws would be cool but I'm not sure I want a setup where the shift knob is three inches above the console level either. Anyone have any good recommendations and/or photos of either the B&M or the Hurst installed?

All aftermarket shifters are better than stock. I'm real happy with the B&M - nice crisp shifts, short throw, and no guessing which gear I reaching for.

The B&M with the MGW knob is a great combo, but I havent tried any of the others. Rocket is right, any aftermarket shifter will be a big improvment.

I'm thinking I need to find out what the hell is wrong with the linkage and then look at changing the shifter. As of now, I'm leaning towards the B&M shifter instead of the Hurst. Is it possible to use the stock shift knob with the B&M?

Stock knob will fit fine, at least in mine it did, but its as heavy as a brick, consider the MGW. Hope your linkage is okay.

I didn't realize there'd be such a weight difference between the stock "Mr Microphone" and the MGW knob. I'll probably just get the MGW when the time comes. First task will be finding out what's wrong with the linkage.

MoparMan,

As you can see from the attached pic - there really is no linkage to adjust or fix. The stock shifter is sealed - but if you're really intent on trying to fix the stock one - you may be able to try to pry it open to change out the springs? Not sure if it would be worth the trouble or hassle vs spending $240 for the B&M.

If you want to save some cash, DC Performance sells modified shifters that are better than stock for $80.
