Skip shift feature is something you'll want to disable ASAP. It makes it so that when driving at a certain RPM and speed, it locks out 2 and 3 and makes you shift to 4th from 1st. This is because it lets DCX put better MPG on the sticker.

Same as corvettes, camaros, etc...

You can unplug it or buy a part to make it normal. Instructions are on the mods page at this site.

What I understand, the skip shift feature is a pain in the @%#. I'll try to tell you what it does. From a stand still, put it in 1st and start going, in the center screen you'll see a yellow arrow pointing up. What this means is that you either have to give it some more gas to make the arrow turn off, or continue driving at that RPM. DON'T try to shift while this arrow is on, it blocks up the transmission and won't let you move the stick. If this happens, press down the clutch and give it some gas, it should turn off. Don't get scared about it, i didn't even notice it at first, it's when I became aware of it that I started to mess it up. What I did was disconnected the Skip shift sensor. It does nothing to the car and you don't need to worry about that light ever again. You can get a Skip Shift eliminator kit from Snake-Oyl for $60, but you can also just disconnect it and cover it up good. Don't be scared, I found out myself what it did. Welcome aboard!

Terry, shift it any way you want. The skip shift will activate for a few seconds only when you are putting about in first gear. A yellow arrow will light up on the dash. If you try to shift while the yellow arrow is on you will be locked out of shifting into second with the intent for you to shift into 4th. Moderate driving style, shifting at higher rpm and you'll never exper. the lockout. But you might get it in traffic as an annoyance. If it bothers you the plugin device from Summit Racing Call 800-230-3030,skip shift eliminator pt. no. JET-61610 for $29.69 is fairly cheap.
Then get plugged into the Arizona club in time for the Payson drive. www.azvipers.com

The skip shift feature has never been an issue for us either. I tried it couple times to see it work, but I've never been in a situation where it was a problem. It's pretty much unnoticable to me.

SkipShift Spit-Shift! It is a Non-Event, in my opinion. I only encounter it if a line of traffic at a green ligh 'accordians' and slows for some moronic reason that only the blue-head knows.
I simultaneosly shift automatically, (driver error)

Rightfully, a newbeee under break-in may encounter it. SkipShift is MANDATED by the feds, as a function of gas-guzzler tax assessment. It is not a ploy to increase CAFE or artificialize MPG by Dodge.

Once you "learn" the car, you will never ship at the revs that trigger it.....and if you DO encounter it, you just simply shipt down from the forced-4th to 2nd or 3rd. It doe NOT prohibit a downshift!

Options: Discon the switch from below, on the side of the trans. Dont disable the anti-reverse by mistake! If the light glows, cover it with a black dot of electrical tape.

Or, PartsRack will sell you a "skip-shift disabler" for $49.

I agree with everyone else. Skip-shift, annoying as it is in low speed in traffic, isn't much of an issue. We sell the Skip Shift Defeat wiring harness for $34, and it takes about 15 minutes to install. It's one of those "if the car's up in the air, I may as well install it" type of things...
