really really close to picking up a set of M&M headers from mbcenter on the forum here. I'm just wondering at a pure performance standpoint how much power can you really expect to gain? I understand how a lot of people are looking for the different sound they offer, but that doesnt really matter too much to me since i already like the way my car sounds. I always like to do a $ spent per horsepower gained and it keeps me from "overspending" on mods I guess is a good way to put it. I just don't want to slap on a set of headers that I paid a lot of money for and only gain 10-15 horse...

I got a 98 gts with a corsa exhaust, ACR smooth tubes, and s&b filters. The headers will go directly to the corsa exhaust with no cats.

anybody have any hard figures of a combo similar to mine? I've just been on the fence thinking maybe it would be better to go NOS since i could get a nice NOS setup with all the accessories for the same price.

would like to get some hard facts and information since i've searched quite a bit and its tough to find a 100% credible answer to what the are really capable of producing power wise.

sorry to say it but
do a search,
there is a thread that listed the expected hp gains per bolt on (i'll also see if i can find it)

i beleive if sound is not what you are looking for (your car should sound great with the mods you have already), then headers may not be the best bang for the buck next mod (if i'm wrong, others will chime in)

also consider how and how much you drive. no2 is good while on the juice, but all other times no seat of the pants benefit

always mod toward where you want to end up

for the same coin, and the way i enjoy the car, i'd do a new rear gear

also, if you have cats now, the sound will be way louder, possibly add drone, and change the tone

This list? ;)

http://forums.viperclub.org/performance-modifications/521912-power-upgrades-ordered-list.html

I think headers are one of those things that when it's all added up and you've done your homework right, the extra power is probably measurable.

I put Belangers on my '01 simply based on the reputation of the builder, and the understanding the gains would not be extravagant.

The money vs. hp might not fit every budget or economic analysis. I did it just because.

if i were (also) a money is no object :drive: i'd do the headers also just for the sound and looks, (knowing that they will change the corsa sound a neg in my book but belanger sound a plus)

I had a wild and woolly evening at Texas de Brazil. Just the drink courses I had were mind bending.

-> Mixed cocktails

-> Brazilian beer

-> Merlot from who knows where

-> Dessert cocktail from heaven!

-> Dessert wine

Um. Yeah, right... Headers. :D

If your looking purely from a cost/hp stand point, nitrous is the winner by a mile. Headers won't make a stock car like yours run close to 10's.
