Vettes all over like Hondas? A tiresome point that isn't true. It's just that are so few Vipers which is unfortunate to me.

In Metro Detroit there really are as many Vettes as Hondas. I see about 25 to 50 Vettes a day. I see two Vipers a week, usually mine.

So he got the car home yesterday and I went over to see it. He opens the driver's door and says hop in I want you to show me what it can do since I'm a little rusty driving a stick:D So I jump in the drivers seat and off we go. I have never been in a C6 let alone driven one. It was pretty much what I expected from reviews I have read. Very docile, smooth, sedate and comfortable when driving easy and very strong when pouncing it but still smooth. It's a very nice car that certainly far better suited for daily driving than my GTS no doubt. So anyway I ran it over to the closest highway and did a few blasts up to about 130 and it was a lot of fun. So we're getting off the highway sitting at a light and a bunch of kids in a Jetta with wheels and a pipe drive through the intersection and one kid about 18 or 19 years old is hanging out the window of the Jetta gawking at my buddy's just detailed shiny red corvette. He gives this discerning look then pauses and then gives us a big thumbs down:rolleyes: So my buddy is like ***:omg:

OK So your friend bought an American Sports car, but lets be honest, you guys have a hell of a lot of Corvettes there ;)

Ive only ever seen one Viper in the times Ive been to the USA and that was in a Las Vegas casino on a stand surrounded by slot machines. Ive never personally seen one on the road.

I think your friend made a big mistake not getting a Viper! ................But each to their own. He will just have to get used to more of the same comments from the kids.

The corvette is a very capable car, I LOVE my gts but the vette is just an overall easier car to drive ( more comfortable, still quick, reliable, cheap parts, and a blast with the roof off)

It's definitely like comparing Taylor Swift to Jenna Jameson...

Jettaz be super fast yo. If he had bought a Jettaz and put all the moneys he spent on that lame Vette into it, it would be like way quicker fool!

It is funny to me how much Viper guys know in detail the variations of Corvettes, Because I don't think that Corvette guys know that much about Vipers. Also funny that Viper guys will have a Corvette for a daily driver, but Corvette guys don't have a Viper at all. .....they just have no idea.
I have both, 09 SRT 10 and 09 base vette with Z51 and NPP. Vette is my daily driver. I switched from 09 Z06 to a viper to play with. Your point is exatly what?

I am a Viper guy, but I bought a C6 for a daily driver. I actually like Corvettes and know the differences between trim levels. (like most Viper guys....and a lot of us have Vettes as drivers also) But I've noticed that most Corvette guys are exclusive Corvette-world-only guys. The only Viper info they have, is that it has a V10 under the hood. .....And I don't think that there are any Corvette guys that have a Viper for a daily driver. .....not that any of this matters at all anyway,..just an observation. You and I, and a few others are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy both cars for what they are, and aren't.

Actually Les is offering the 13s for $39k now. I think it is to get larger allocations for the upcoming C7. Not a bad price for a sporty DD.

I think most people cannot tell ZR1 from base vette, this seems to be the biggest problem with those cars. I agree that vette is a pretty good choice for a DD, with viper as the second car. I think viper is way more of a kick in the pants than any corvetts.:D If you upgrade tires and wheels on the vette, it handles real good and it goes like bat out of hell but somehow the thrill is not there. On the bright side, I cannot clear most of the driveways and speed bumps with either one, LOL.

The Corvette is a nice sports car that is more fun to drive than a Taurus or Camry. But yes, the Viper is so much more fun! .....Corvette=beer .... Viper=Jack Daniels.

We were out trolling for stripers yesterday off of seaside Heights in the Viking and he said to his Brother that my Viper is just so much more raw than his car and the acceleration just feels unbelievable but then he threw a dig about my car having a Kmart stereo in the dash:lmao: I think he now understands the difference in the Fun Factor...

........yeah, my Corvette has a radio/CD player that I listen to while driving. The Viper has a radio/CD player that I only use as a clock. The Viper is still more entertaining without the use of the radio.

I haven't ever turned the radio on in mine. Wonder if it works...

I'm trying to get my buddy to be more of a car guy so i told him to start watching BBC Top Gear... Unfortunately Hammond had little good to say about his car.

Top Gear rags on anything American so no surprise here. This is a pretty old show, the car is a LS2 base, without NPP and Z51 option and it still manages to go like bat out of hell on POS first generation GY runcraps. Z51 option gives you shorter gearing, stiffer sway bars and shocks and bigger brakes, NPP gives you a nice growl on top of extra 6hp over stock LS3 430 hp (LS2 is only 400). The car is over 200 lbs lighter than Viper as well.

The biggest problem I had in the past, driving vette was not having enough hook up on the street with RF junk, switching to non RF 275/30/19 and 325/25/20 tires (stock is 245/40/18 and 285/35/19)
made all the difference in the world handling and hook up wise. If you want a fast, light and cheap car, vette cannot be beat. Go and take a ride in one that has been upgraded before drawing Top Gear conclusions.

Viper is a great track and play car but for daily driver, it is not a match for a vette. The type of people that buy majority of these cars and lack of exclusivity are the biggest problem with vette.

If you want a cheap fast car, at least IMO, 2008-2009 6sp, Z51 and NPP equipped base cannot be beat (the only two years this combo was available plus 6060 manual tranny since 2008), as long as you upgrade your wheels and tires, this is coming from someone who had Z06 as well.
