That's a drivetrain mule for the new Viper engine. The gen IV (ZC platform) Viper will not go into production until early '09. Expect the current gen III (ZB platform) Viper to get some appearance tweaks and the new drivetrain for the '08 model year. It goes into production 1/8/07.

I'm sure that car is just testing the engine, but if all they change is the hood and other MINOR updates I'd be disappointed.

"Our best guess is Dodge will use this ASC/McLaren project to bridge a 2007 model-year gap, during which Dodge reportedly plans no regular production Vipers. "

What does "no regular production Vipers" mean?

By accident I have seen this Viper in Detroit.
Actually I parked my Viper beside.
The driver disappeared 2 min after I took two pictures.
There is no major change except the hood with the large venting. Breaks, radiator, inside, rear, front are the same.
Maybe the engin got a little upgrade.

My guess, and most have said, is that the body is most likely a mule for a new powertrain. If there's any new body changes, they'd hide it a lot more than that.

Once again, it's a drivetrain mule so there won't be alot of differences. Furthermore, the '08 Viper will not look drastically different from the current one and it will be based on the same platform (ZB), but will have the new drivetrain. The ZC based Viper is still a couple of years away...

If you've got some photos, you may be able to sell 'em to someone like Brenda Priddy. If not, go ahead and post 'em.

I heard that the engine will be moved rearward and that there will be a transaxle.
