Anybody know the claimed top speed for the srt? Was wondering how it compared to an RT/10 to be fair. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I don't know the true top speed. My best through 104 miles to date has been about 80. Awfully hard to keep the speed in check during breakin.

I think I have seen around 190 mph in magazines, with the exception of the one Daffy is referring to. That was the subject of a lot of comments last week on this site.

R/T has it estimated at 190. I don't know if the cd will allow that to be reached, but hopefully someone will try and let us know..

I have heard from a pretty reliable source that they were present as a preproduction SRT eclipsed 200 mph with the top up at Chelsea or one of the other test facilities in Arizona. I know for a fact that 130 is a cakewalk with lots more left in it. Oh yeah, and 160 mph on the dyno...

I'd like to believe it can do 200. That would be cool, and very, very, good for an American car. :usa:

I did 170 once, with more left in it. Oddly enough, I was comming up behind a cop giving someone a ticket. It was night, and I saw his blue/red flashing lights like a half mile before I came up on him. If he could'a seen me doin 170, he probably woulda drawn his gun and called for back up. Fastest I ever went in a car in my life.

You SRT owners keep us posted, its great to see the Viper name live on and kick butt.

Motor Trend April 2003:
We pushed a '99 Corvette Z-51(C5) with an LS-1 V-8 to 173.6 mph. We haven't had the opportunity to top-end a new 405-horse ZO6, but stay tuned.

"BUT STAY TUNED". I think that Motor Trend's "Speed Shoot-outs" are back for this year. We could see a top speed test for the SRT-10. I'll love to see a 190+mph run.

Actually, it was C&D that lost the driver. Don Schroeder. MT has since observed a moratorium on top speed testing out of respect, despite the fact that C&D occasionally still tests cars for top speed.

Both C&D and R&T list the SRT-10's top speed at an estimated 190 mph. Automobile Magazine lists 180 mph. C&D got 177 mph out of a Gen II RT/10.

Had it up to 110 prior to shifting into 5th and letting off. I would say 150 would be cruising speed in 6th. Now if I can only find a road long enough with no traffic (and cops). After doing about 110 past a few cars, got gas and came back through, cops had radar setup on that exact spot!! Dave

Any one yet know the true top speed? I had mine to 151 in 5th and still felt as if I could have gotten allot more out of it. Just thought about how dead I would be at that speed if something went wrong.

I really want to know the top speed though.

Check the Nevada Open Road Challenge speeds. I think DC performance lists them on their website, but keep in mind this is at 7000 feet. Top speeds would be quite a bit higher at sea level. As with most of the other guys, I have read 190 plus in a couple of magazines. I'd like to know too. Mine topped out at 140 in 4th with 3.55's and some mods. Still had 5th and 6th to go. This is a great time to be alive, in terms of cars and performance.

One road test I read had the top speed up to 187, BUT this was course limited not drag limited. ie: ran out of road before the car ran out of steam. It said the car was still pulling!

I dont see how anyone could come up with a number even as low as 180... Hmm, RT/10 did 177- with 50 HP less, 100+ Lbs More, and a LOT more drag. Umm, duh? I wouldnt be surprised if it is truly 195-200. It pulls HARD up through 150's...havent gone passed that.
