Stainless Steel Brake Lines on SRT-10 . . .

I plan on installing the Stoptech lightweight rotors used on the new ACR on my 2008 Viper when it arrives. I am aware that Stoptech also sells stainless steel brake lines.

Do the 2003-2008 Vipers come from the factory with stainless steel brake lines? (From the specs that are currently available, the 2008 ACR does not appear to have stainless steel lines.) If not, is there any downside --other than added cost--to installing the Stoptech stainless steel brake lines? There doesn't seem to be.

It does appear from the available lit that stainless steel braided lines are not part of the ACR pkg. Upgrading to ss lines should provide for better brake modulation during tracking and added burst protection. I liked the benefits and had them installed.

The Stop Tech lines are a good upgrade even though the factory lines are also very good. The rotors are also a worthy upgrade although are not a lot lighter than the stock ones because Stop Tech knows that you need the MASS in the rotor to affectively remove heat from heavy braking. Super light rotors are more prone to cracking from the heat. The center section can be light though.

Thanks for the feedback. My best info is that the ACR rotors appear to save a total of about 30 lbs over the stock rotors which is a decent weight savings.

Mark just did all of the above mods to my '04 SRT and the performance difference is definitely something you will notice. I had the binders go out on a 996 Turbo that I had and tracked for awhile with regular brake lines and ever since stuffing that car the lines and brakes are always the first things I like to have upgraded.

That said, the stock brakes do work good if you're not going to do anything too serious.

I put StopTech SS brake lines on my '05 and don't notice much difference on the street but a little crisper feel under hard track braking. They were pretty easy to install, just remember to fit both ends before tightening either. The best upgrade was to install SpeedBleeders so I can now quickly bleed the brakes by myself.

I have Stoptech SS braided steel brake lines on three Vipers, 2 Gen III's and one Gen II. All driven aggressivelly and one tracked regularly (GTS). No issues and a better feel when hot, late in the track session.
