Stripes Issues?

I am looking to purchase my first Viper (Red or Blue Coupe) but I am concerned about the stripes. Since they are not painted stripes, how well are they holding up?
Past experience with stripes collect wax, start to peel, etc.
I love the look of the stripes, but not sure the potential issues and higher cost are worth it.
Any experiences with SRT stripes would be appreciated.

My stripes are painted. I have never seen the factory do it any other way.

Thanks for the insight, I looked at a black with silver stripes and I could feel the edges on the stripes, so I assumed it was adhered.
If it was painted, shouldnt it been under the clear coat and smooth to the touch?

I think if its under clear coat, you'd still feel it, no? Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

They are painted on. The are painted after the whole car has been painted the solid color.

all factory stipes have been painted on '96-current

The stripes **** on the gen 3. My '96 stripes were way better than the current car stripes. They are not clear coated like they should

As far as I know all FACTORY stripes on vipers are painted on. Two 8 in wide stripes with 4 in between.

Yep, factory stripes are all painted on over the base color and clear coated over - 96 and later. You can feel the additional paint "thickness" though it is very minor.

Very durable. No issues on my 2001 GTS.

Except the 1996 RT/10 which had vinyl stripes with clear coat over the top.

You are correct about the '96 RT/10 (white w/blue stripes and black w/silver stripes). They are vinyl and clear-coated not painted. How do I know - I used to own one.

They Clear coated my Srt-10 coupe's stripes, they are great.
