I posted some questions regarding buying a Viper and thanks to your advice, I am now the proud owner of a '01 GTS ACR. It is Sapphire Blue with about 11k miles. Its amazing. Completely different experience from my Vette. The acceleration is deceptive. It accelerates so effortlessly.

I do have one question for the gear heads. I notice, while driving today, a knock sound when pressing on the accelerator after costing in gear. For example, in 2nd gear, if I let off the gas and then reapply softly, there is a slite knock sound. To me it sounds like there might be slack in the drive line. If I reapply the clutch and give it a little gas and slowly release the clutch, no knock. Under moderate acceleration, going through the gears, no knock.

What do you think?

Great car great color! Congrats.
Not sure about that knocking noise, but I can assure you someone here can help. You might want to post it in another thread with "help" or "knocking noise" in the title.
Good luck and enjoy it!

I've had three Vipers... they all did that. You are probably talking about the clunk from the driveline.

That's right, BJH1 --

They all do it. Don't worry, it will be there when you need it. You got a great car in a great color -- welcome aboard!

BJH1: Great Color. Post some pics of the new car. Become aware of your newfound torque before getting in the habit of flooring it in lower gears... Oh, and the VCA is cheap fun, so join !

I'll try to get some pics on tomorrow. How do I join the VCA? Are there any publications for parts and accessories like MID America is to Corvettes? Or similar magazines like Corvette Quarterly but for Vipers.

So much to learn, help me get started.

I think all of your questions can be answered by clicking the "MEMBERSHIP" link at the top of this page. And before you get frustrated and ask how to post an avatar with your user name, email the image to member "vipermad" ( [email protected] ), he is the site administrator and will get it attached in short order. If you have any other questions, just ask here on the forum or Private Message any of us in this thread.

Learn to corner in that beast! Its about the best advice that I could give and definitely come out for Viper driver events in your area. This will probably be the first time that you've owned this much Torque. Enjoy the ride and beware of the Torque!

Yeah, the clunk is there to remind you it is a DODGE Viper.

Great color combo, enjoy your car!
