The movie \"The Island\" and HP wars...

In the movie (some 20 yrs from now) they feature this 700+ HP Cadillac. In these great revival times how far will stock cars go w/ HP? In the 70's gas prices and insurance $$ all but stopped the muscle cars - are we headed there again?

I just watched that movie last night. If I recall correctly, they called that Caddy a "2009".
