*update*
After hours of shooting wires, and checking resistance, I never found anything wrong, so I started replacing parts. Easiest and cheapest option was the gauge cluster. Got a used unit, dropped it in, and it worked perfect. So I guess the wakeup circuit in the cluster itself is at fault. Thanks for all the input! So happy it's fixed!

Hey all, I've been looking through tons of old post, but can't find anything. I have a strange issue... 03 Vert, 29k... When I put the key in and turn it to run start, the gauge cluster does it's gauge swing, but before completing it, its interrupted, and starts over. Swings 4 times, and then stops. Like it's losing power/communication , I've tried all kinds of stuff, as follows...

-new battery, checked all battery grounds, chassis grounds, replaced ignition switch, ripped the dash apart to check gauge clusters and harnesses, checked harness for BCM and ground, checked fuses, and pinned out 4 wire switch to BCM.

Car starts and runs, no issue, only the initial gauge sweep is the issue. Any ideas?!

Wake up control from BCM pin 5, to instrument cluster pin 11.
I cant tell if its a ground or voltage. If you can put a meter on it and see 4 spikes? It's a start.

STANDARD PROCEDURE - SELF-DIAGNOSTICS
To put the instrument cluster and gauge pack in Self-Diagnostic Mode, press the trip reset button down and then turn the ignition to the ON position simultaneously, then release the button after two seconds. The gauges will increment to selected stops and all indicators will light, except for the turn signal indicators. The engine ISO lamp will come on when the ignition is turned ON and the engine is OFF

Self check works fine, all gauges sweep like normal. It only does it on initial key on, run/start sequence.

I'm going to pull the bezel and cluster again so I can get to the connector on the cluster and try and trace the harness as far as I can

Thats a wiring issue or a loose contact in the gauge cluster or its connectors all day long.

I've got everything pulled apart, clusters, all the connectors, everything. Checking pin to pin right now. But without a DRB3 it's very difficult

Oscilloscope would help but if all you have is a voltmeter then you can try that. Back probe pin 11 when connected to the cluster.

You can disconnect pin 11 from the cluster. That is the wake signal to it from the BCM and turn the key to run.

I'm getting a steady voltage on the wake up signal and no opens on the 2 grounds for C1 on the cluster and C4 on the BCM. I ordered a new cluster, see if that fixes it.
